About Dr Kirkpatrick
Dr Emily Kirkpatrick is currently working as Deputy Chief Public Health Officer and Deputy Chief Medical Officer for SA Health, in addition to her role as a specialist General Practitioner. Dr Kirkpatrick commenced at SA Health in March 2020, assisting the COVID-19 team during the pandemic. She continues to advocate for her profession, primary care and the community during this unprecedented time. A lateral big thinker, her current focus is overseeing the COVID community response in South Australia.
Dr Kirkpatrick's background is in general practice, medical education, research and preventative medicine. Her passion is community engagement and advocating for equitable access to primary care for South Australians. Dr Kirkpatrick is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, associate fellow of the Royal Australian College of Medical Administrators and an accredited Skin Cancer Doctor with the Skin Cancer College Australasia. Dr Kirkpatrick is passionate about health care reform and quality patient outcomes and has pivoted into health care management, in addition to becoming a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD) and a Certified Health Informatician (CHIA). Additionally, she is the Chair of the RACGP SA&NT Education and Training Committee, a passionate GP Medical Education Researcher in workplace development and assessment and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Adelaide in the Discipline of General Practice.
